What I'm doing now/lately...
📱 Redesigning a Dating app for the chronically ill and physically disabled communities
Working with the co-founders of a social impact startup who have put something amazing, and very needed into the world. Their MVP app was rough, and after this, it's going to be top-notch.
Doing some fancy prototyping in Rive (one of the slickest new animation tools out there)
💡 Hands-on Product Management Consulting
Skylight Frame (Consumer electronics)
I'm super excited to be working with the product team over at Skylight to supercharge the roadmap with magic and customer delight to help them make their internet connected photo frame a must-have for every home. Working closely with the co-founders, as well as the heads of product and engineering to help differentiate from the competition, and drive key business metrics (Premium subscription conversion rate). Their photo frame is an excellent gift for elderly loved ones to keep them connected to the rest of the family--especially if they're in a long-term care facility.
I conceived and launched the "Doodles" feature. Learn more about the process I used
Atlas Primer (AI audio learning platform)
I'm also working closely with the founder of an audio-based AI learning app called Atlas Primer, focusing on the product strategy as well as the user experience.
Vital AI (AI Meditation app)
I started using Vital AI, out of curiosity, and was impressed by the quality of the guided mediations it generated based on prompts. Now I am working in an advisory role, helping with product & UX.
🥋👊🏼 Training in Shorin-ryu Karate
My son and I have been training together in this old Okinawan style of karate for a few years. We both just passed our belt promotions, making me a San-kyu (green belt with brown tips), and Ben an orange belt (for kids, that's the equivalent of a brown belt).
I never understood the draw of karate, but something clicked recently after seeing how dedicated the Sensei are, and after reading a few key books I'll list below. It's both physical and spiritual, and I'm finding the principles are applicable to living a decent life in all areas.
Two books that pulled me deeper into Karate (and martial arts generally):
🎤 🎧 🎛️ Producing my daughter's songs
My home office is also our home studio. I like to call it the Creative Dojo. My daughter Noa writes her own lyrics, and I've been helping her shape them into songs, and recording them in the studio. Feelin' good about them! I'll keep doing this until she wakes up one morning feeling cringy that she collaborates with her father, and enjoy every minute of it until then :)
📝 Writing a sci-fi novel
Chipping away at a novel is a better way to describe it, but I've been writing nonetheless. There's a story inside me that's been nagging me to be born into the world. But establishing a writing "habit" is easier said than done, especially raising four kids and a dog! Life is busy AF.
